How do you contact the accounts to facilitate collection?
Collection methods can vary significantly depending on a host of factors. Upon receipt of
placements, Express Collections will send you an acknowledgment for your file. The debtor is
also notified in writing that the account has been referred to Express Collections and unless
the debt is disputed, payment should be made to avoid any further collection activity.
Once a collector is assigned, a variety of measures can be taken such as, request for payment
in full, formal payment agreements, skip tracing, and legal action. (please note - Express
Collections will not file litigation within the first 30 days after receiving an account).
Our goal upon receiving your placements is to attempt to locate and contact the debtor including
those who can no longer be reached at the address or phone number given. This is further enhanced
by our in-house skiptracing technology. Our ultimate goal is to provide you with a quick resolution
to your collection problem.
All accounts are sent a "Validation of Debt Notice" as required by the Fair Debt Collection
Practices Act (FDCPA). We then focus the next steps of collection using systematic and timely
telephone contact. We believe that a telephone call has 10 times greater impact than a letter.
Our staff will attempt to call your debtor during the day, evening, and weekends in order to
collect your accounts. As one can imagine, with such calling intensity we are able to collect
on the debt more effectively.

What collection services do you offer?
Along with a high level of calling not normally offered, our agency offers collection letters,
skip tracing, and in-house accounts receivable consulting. Where warranted, we will have our
field collector visit your debtor. This is NOT done on consumer debts due to restrictions set
forth in the FDCPA. We will consult with you to develop the best service we can provide.
Are your collectors aggressive and confrontational? What is your philosophy?
Express Collections philosophy is to enhance recovery for its clients while maintaining customer
goodwill. Our Collection practices are ethical and professional, and follow all State and
Federal laws. Our customer service approach is used to remind debtors of their outstanding
balance and attempts to either secure payment in full, or establish a payment arrangement
program. They are also reminded that the reason that we are involved is due to their neglect,
not any aggressiveness on your part. Our collectors maintain a customer service tone, even in
collection. Our philosophy is that tenacity and repetition is more effective than confrontation.
Even in collection, it still remains important to maintain and enhance the image of the creditor.
Our service is used as an extension of your business office and is accomplished in a manner where
our collectors identify themselves as representing your office.
How do you remit payments to your clients? What do we do if the debtor pays us directly?
The entire purpose of a debt collection agency is to recover your money. We remit the net
proceeds of our collection to you Monthly. If a debtor pays you directly, just contact our
office and we will credit the account accordingly and our fees will be posted to your next
statement. Checks and statements are printed on the 5th of each month. All payments made to
Express Collections are posted to the debtors account and remitted to our clients on the
following months statement. For example, if a payment were made on the 15th, the remittance
would be sent on the 5th of the following month. We are a debt collection agency that will be
here tomorrow and into the next millennium.
Our service is flexible and structured to fit your individual needs. The purpose of our service
is to convince your debtors that it is in their best interest to pay you. Once we get involved,
your bill will always be on their minds. The quicker you act to resolve delinquent accounts, the
better the chance of obtaining full payment. The obvious benefit to you is increased cash flow.
How do we place an account for collection?
There are many ways to place an account with Express Collections:
- Fill out a listing sheet and fax, mail or e-mail your account to our office.
- Submit your own form (copies of statements, ledger cards, or computer print-outs).
- List your accounts over the phone (605-343-1311)
- Use our on-line form (must obtain a password first).
Please provide all contact information that is available. The more information we receive
the better chance we have to collect your account. Include the following (if possible):
- Current Address & Phone #'s (please notate accounts that mail is returned)
- Spouse Information
- Employment Information (including spouse)
- Nearest Relatives
- Social Security Numbers
- Date of Birth
- Any Additional Information on the Account that Express Collections should know about
Although an itemized statement is not required to place an account for collection, please have
them available on request!
